Master Plan

City Council approved a $100,000 contract with Lose and Associates, Incorporated of Nashville, Tennessee for preparation of a Park Master Plan on June 26, 2000. The Master Plan was developed utilizing public input by conducting a series of ten public meetings, hosting a steering committee workshop, interviewing city board and staff members, and distributing a survey to approximately 5,900 citizens.

The City of Fayetteville welcomes input to identify potential outdoor park and recreation needs and priorities for 2016. Following the identification process, city officials will select those priorities to be submitted to the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism for the 2016 Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism Outdoor Recreation matching grant application.

Preliminary Plan

The preliminary plan was presented to and approved by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board on April 26, 2001. It was presented to the City Council and the Planning Commission on July 16, 2001. On November 26, 2001, the Planning Commission adopted guiding policies and strategies for the master park plan that will serve as a 10-year planning tool. A resolution approving the Parks and Recreation 10-Year Master Plan with guiding policies and implementation strategies was passed by City Council on February 19, 2002.
